One of the ways you'll often hear RP referred to is that it's a DO WITH philosophy. But what does DO WITH actually mean in reality?Allow me to give the following by way of examples to flesh this out a little more. Afterwards, maybe you'll come up with some of your own for your life? The possibilities for this are endless, trust me:
So the next time you are faced with a decision of whatever kind (be it ordering the Christmas annual in school, deciding what colour to paint the shed, where to go for summer holidays or just picking what's for dinner tonight) ask yourself should I make this decision by myself? Is there someone else who'll be affected by this? If so, why not DO WITH them and ask for their opinion. They'll be glad you included them, and you'll be glad as a result.
That's Restorative Practice
My name is Joe Power and I am the RP development officer for Limerick. I thought I would write about my experiences in developing my own understanding of RP, as well as in trying to spread it across Limerick. The reason for this is that I find that both my own and other people's experiences are remarkably similar and there could well be some opportunity for other's to benefit from these thoughts (or ramblings!!). Anyway I hope you gain something from it.
