Restorative Justice Week 2020 - "Courage to Change"
The Limerick Restorative Practices Project and Le Cheile Mentoring are proud to present Limerick Restorative Justice Week 2020. The International Restorative Justice Week will take place all over Europe and beyond in the week between 15-22 November. The aim of the week is to introduce Restorative Justice (and its sister philosophy Restorative Practice) to as wide an audience as possible. All events are free, open to anyone, and will allow people the opportunity to see this new, and simultaneously ancient, philosophy in action, and ask questions about it to relevant practitioners.
Events for the week:
Tuesday 17th 12:30-2pm - Le Cheile 10-year celebration Le Chéile’s Restorative Justice Project is Ireland’s first and only non-statutory youth restorative justice service. It provides a range of restorative justice services to young people who have been involved in crime and are engaged with the Probation Service. This year it celebrates 10 years in operation in Limerick and invites you to, not just look back at some of its achievements, but also look forward and share what Restorative Justice can offer. We will have a number of speakers, national and international, and also hope to have discussion and engagement from people in key services and, just as importantly, the wider public about this fast growing and important movement. This promises to be both an informative and educational seminar. Click here for details and tickets (FREE) https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/courage-to-change-le-cheile-rj-seminar-tickets-125766618341
Tuesday 17th 5pm - RP in Schools Webinar What does RP look like in a schools context? What's in it for teachers and students and, just as importantly, what is the cost of not prioritising relationships? Email respracdevoff@gmail.com for more details or click here to register on eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/127440033571
Wednesday 18th 5pm - RP at home Webinar Restorative Practices can also be applied at home (realistically you've done it already without calling it that). This interactive webinar explains what this looks like and, again, the cost to our relationships when we don't act in a fair and respectful way. Thursday 19th - Art of Engagement Workshop with Janine Caroll How do you engage those who have been harmed and/or those who have caused harm, in a way that they feel heard, have a say in what happens, and work towards meeting the needs of everyone involved? This workshop will explain how and should be of particular interest to anyone working in the criminal justice system or working with challenging cases of harm and hurt. It is facilitated by Janine Caroll, international RJ expert with 30 years in the field.
Thursday 19th 5pm - RP at work Webinar This final event of the week takes the ideas of RP and applies them to a work context. What is the cost of not listening and not engaging employess? How do you create morale or do you wait for conflict to arise? What do you do when conflict does arise? Find out how RP can play a role in your organisation.
